Brewers 2 behind Cubs after Fielder hits 50th in 9-1 win over Cards

Prince Fielder hit his 49 and 50th home runs of the season to lead the Brewers to a crucial 9-1 win over the Cardinals. In addition to being the youngest ever to hit 50, Fielder joined his father Cecil in forming the only father-son tandem to both hit 50 in a single season. Combined with NL Central leader the Cubs' 4-2 loss at Florida, the Brewers inched to 2 games back with 5 left to play.

Fielder strengthened his MVP candidacy with the clutch performance. Hearing the legions at Miller Park whose cheers drew Fielder out of the dugout for curtain calls after both blasts, dp thinks the MVP will be Fielder's provided the Brew Crew sneak past the Cubs and into the playoffs.
